Creative Exchange

From meeting rooms and hot desks to a regular market, the Branch has plenty of trading and working space on offer at some true beauty spots around the estate. All rooms have access to catering, whether you'd like to order directly when booking or enjoy a stroll to one of the nearby cafes.

Gibside Market:

On the first and third Saturday of every month, Gibside hosts a market for local traders of handmade food or craft products. Local creative businesses can hire a stall - and many of the Branch residents do. Gibside Market has been running successfully for a number of years and offer an ideal opportunity for local creative businesses to sell their handmade products in a special setting.

Meeting Rooms:

  • Merry Room - (max capacity 10 people) Located in Garden Cottage, next to the Walled Garden and named after the Merry family who made the bricks used to construct the walls of the Walled Garden.
  • Switzer Room - (max. capacity 10 people) Located in Garden Cottage, next to the Walled Garden and named after Stephen Switzer who contributed to the design of the Gibside's grand landscape garden
  • Bowes Room - (max. capacity 40 people) Located upstairs in the Stables and named after the Bowes-Lyon family who were responsible for the creation of the landscape garden.
  • Pippin Room - (max. capacity 6 people) Network Lounge. Located in Garden Cottage, next to the Walled Garden and named after a variety of apple grown in the Walled Garden.

Hot Desks:

The Switzer Room has hot desks for hire too. There are also a small number of hot desks available to hire in the rest of the cottage, perhaps for owners of small businesses who usually work from home and on occasion like to have a more social setting to work in with potentially likeminded people? Or perhaps you are working away from home for a while and would like a more picturesque setting to base yourself in for your duration.

Network Lounge:

With comfy chairs and a sofa, the Pippin Room is an ideal location to hire to informally chat and network with colleagues or customers. If it's a 'city' vibe that you're after, you are more than welcome to meet and network in the cafe in Market Place or Carriage House Coffee Shop at the Stables. You don't need to book and they remain open to the public, it's the perfect spot for a light lunch or perhaps a sweet treat.

If you have any questions or would like to check availability for a market stall or hot desk, please use the contact us page to get in touch.
