The three-year £40million Discover England fund, announced by Government last year, aims to ensure that England stays competitive in the rapidly growing global tourism industry, by offering world-class English tourism products to the right customers at the right time.
In year one the fund will focus on:
• Small-scale quick-win projects and pilots that meet customer demand and test new product or new ways of joining up and distributing existing product
• Research to build understanding of customers, markets and product gaps
• Seed funding to build bids for years 2 and 3
Following the first two application rounds in May and June, the Discover England Fund has successfully attracted an exceptional number of high quality bids, far outweighing the allocated funding available for year one. Given that funding for successful bids is allocated on a first-come first-served basis, the final closing date for year one bids is now midday on 15 July.
